The 2020 Stelvio is offered in six trim levels; base, Sport, Ti, Ti Lusso, Ti Sport and Quadrifoglio.
Powering most Stelvio trims is a 2.0L direct injection turbocharged 4-cylinder, making 280 horsepower and an exceptional 306 lb-feet of torque. All that torque makes the Stelvio feel spry, even at low RPMs, and can accelerate 0-60 in just 5.4 seconds. Power from that engine is sent to the wheels via an 8-speed automatic transmission. The Quadrifoglio high-performance trim gets a 505-horsepower 2.9L twin-turbo V6. The Quadrifoglio is exceptionally quick, and not just for an SUV, with a 0-60 in an incredible 3.6 seconds. The base and Sport trims are available in rear-wheel drive or all-wheel drive, while the higher trims come standard with all-wheel drive.
The base trim comes well-equipped with leather seats, a backup camera, keyless go, passive entry and a remote starting system. Other standard items on the Stelvio include 6-way power driver and passenger seats, an 8-speaker sound system with a 8.8-inch touch screen, Bluetooth connectivity, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 7-inch full color display gauge cluster, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, rain sensing wipers, bi-xenon headlamps, LED tail lamps, power liftgate and 18-inch aluminum wheels. The Stelvio Sport AWD comes with aluminum paddle shifters, 19-inch wheels, as well as various black exterior accents around the windows and roof rails.
The Stelvio Ti comes with upgraded interior accoutrements than the Sport AWD, though it is a modest increase to the price. The Ti features dark grey oak interior trimming, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. The top of the line Ti Sport AWD combines the best of all worlds, with the exterior black accents from the Sport combined with the and heated seats. It also gets upgraded 20-inch aluminum wheels and sportier front seats. The optional TI performance package adds a locking limited-slip differential and adjustable adaptive suspension.
The Quadrifoglio trim transforms the Stelvio into a high-performance sport SUV. Its 505-horsepower engine, massive Brembo brakes and 20-inch wheels highlight the performance. In addition, standard features include a Harmon Kardon audio system, navigation system, blind-spot monitoring, automatic high beams, lane departure warning and forward collision warning.
The Stelvio returns for 2020 with a few updates to make it just a little bit easier to live with and more exciting to look at. A new body color appearance kit debuts for this year, which comes standard on most models and gives the Stelvio a sportier look. A new exterior carbon fiber package steps it up even more with carbon fiber around the grille and mirror caps, along with blacked out badges. Inside, Alfa Romeo have done away with the standard infotainment system, opting to equip all models with the bigger 8.8-inch screen to go with a new center console and steering wheel design.
The biggest news though, is probably the introduction of Alfa Romeo's new ADAS features, which add a number of driver assist and safety functions to the Stelvio, such as lane keep assist, active blind spot assist, forward collision warning, blind spot warning, a driver attention alert system and traffic sign recognition.
Stelvio base prices are surprisingly reasonable, starting at just over $40,000. That base price puts it in competition with other small luxury SUVs such as the Audi Q5 and the BMW X3. However, from a styling and performance standpoint, the Stelvio lines up better with vehicles like the Audi SQ5, the BMW X4 and the Porsche Macan, each significantly more expensive than the Stelvio. The Stelvio Quadrifoglio, with its twin-turbo V6 and 505 horsepower, is undoubtedly just one of the fastest SUVs on the market. Anyone looking for a high-performance luxury SUV will have their expectations met by all the standard and optional features of the 2020 Stelvio.
