Impeccable style; plenty of luxury; all-wheel drive; sporty handling; straight-line speed
For 2020, the Levante comes in four variants that are defined by power output. The base and S trims utilize a twin-turbo 3.0 liter 6-cylinder making 345 horsepower in base form and 424 in S trim. The Levante GTS and Trofeo come with a turbocharged 3.8 liter V8 that generates 550 and 590 horsepower respectively. The Trofeo is one of the fastest SUV's in the world with a 0-60 time of 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 189 mph. Power is sent to all four wheels through an advanced 8-speed automatic transmission.
The svelte styling pays off as well, with an extremely slippery, best in class coefficient of drag which contributes to both top speed and fuel economy. In addition, Maserati claims that their SUV has an ideal 50/50 weight distribution and the lowest center of gravity in its class, both immediately noticeable in the way the vehicle corners.
Standard features on all trims include active air suspension capable of raising and lowering the vehicle to suit conditions, 19-inch alloy wheels, leather interior, an 8.4-inch touch screen with navigation, a rearview camera, plenty of connectivity options for iPhone or Android, bi-xenon headlights and heated front seats that are electronically adjustable.
The luxury-oriented GranLusso trim features open pore wood trim, heated and ventilated front seats and industry-exclusive leather and silk upholstery by luxury clothing maker Ermenegildo Zegna.
The sport-oriented GranSport features front sport seats, a sport steering wheel, aluminum paddle shifters, power adjustable aluminum pedals, 20 inch aluminum wheels and red brake calipers.
Maserati takes bespoke manufacturing seriously and there are a ton of options for the Levante, not just in the comfort and convenience department, but in the styling department as well. Wheel options include 20 and 21-inch designs A Harman Kardon premium sound system offers 14 speakers and 900 watts. Other standout options include ventilated front seats, heated rear seats, extended leather upholstery, and Adaptive LED Matrix headlamps.
Optional packages include the GT Sport, Nerissimo, driver assistance and climate packages. The limited Edizione Ribelle series and limited edition Zegna Pelletessuta are also available.
For 2020, the Levante carries over largely unchanged. Driver assistance features become standard equipment on more models including Adaptive LED Matrix headlamps. A panoramic sunroof, heated leather sport steering wheel and soft close doors are added to all trim levels. New upgraded leather is available.
The Maserati Levante is a performance SUV that competes with the Porsche Cayenne, BMW X5, Range Rover Sport, and Jaguar F-Pace. While those competitors offer plenty of outright speed, the Levante offers similar speed, with a huge dose of style and exclusivity to go along with it. Sporting an engine that was developed and manufactured by Ferrari, the Levante has performance baked right into its DNA. At the same time, the Levante aims to inject a little soul into a segment that is largely obsessed with numbers.
