Spacious interior, understated and handsome styling, the best interior tech in the game, interior design, wagon or sedan body styles, high performance options
The Audi A6 is a mid-sized luxury sedan sitting above both the Audi A3 and the Audi A4 in Audi's lineup. Only the full-sized Audi A8 offers more luxury and space than the A6. Despite this the Audi A6 has a reasonable base price, netting buyers an extremely luxurious car that comes with an enviable nameplate. Audi has traditionally focused heavily on technology and the new A6 isn't looking to buck that trend, buyers will be able to option their cars up with the latest in connectivity, driver assistance and infotainment technologies all wrapped up in a cockpit that looks like it came from the future.
The Audi A6 enters 2021 with two engine options. A6 45 TFSI models are powered by a 2.0L 4-cylinder engine aided by a turbocharger making 248 horsepower. A6 55 TFSI models get a 3.0L V6 fed by a turbocharger making a total of 335 horsepower. Both engines are mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch transmission sending power to all four wheels. Dual-clutch transmissions tend to be capable of incredibly fast shift times while sending power to the wheels more efficiently than a traditional automatic, helping the A6 save fuel, while providing sharp shifts when the driver is looking for extra performance.
For those wanting more performance and power, the 2021 S6 is powered by a 2.9L turbocharged V6 making 444 horsepower mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Like all versions of the mid-sized Audi, power is sent to all four wheels.
On the other hand, for those wanting something a bit more utilitarian, the Allroad returns to the A6 lineup for 2021 and is powered by the same 3.0L V6. The Allroad offers about two more inches of ground clearance over the standard A6 while also looking far more rugged thanks to its matte wheel arches. The Allroad A6 offers sophistication with practicality given its spacious cabin and luxury interior.
Audi has concentrated heavily on technology in recent years and one look at the interior of the 2021 Audi A6 proves this effort has paid off. Audi's optional second-generation virtual cockpit replaces the driver's instrument panel with a large 12.3-inch display that allows driver to view the navigation system simply by looking down at their instruments. It sounds simple, but the virtual cockpit vastly improves the driving experience by providing all the information driver's need in one place.
Driver assistance functions available on the A6 are extensive as well and include an adaptive cruise control system that will keep up with traffic in speeds ranging from stopped, all the way up to 95 mph. A top view camera system allows for 360 degree viewing of the area around the A6 making parking dings a thing of the past, while an available intersection assist system monitors cross traffic and should prevent drivers from pulling out into traffic in situations with low visibility.
The 2021 Audi A6 is available in three distinct trims, Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige, Audi also offers a variety luxury and exterior design packages. All the A6 variations come with standard safety features such as front and rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, Audi pre sense forward collision mitigation and pedestrian detection.
The properly loaded base Premium trim comes with power sunroof, power folding heated mirrors, LED daytime running lights, High Beam Assist, LED brake lights, 19-inch wheels, Audi advance key, heated front seats, leather upholstery, HomeLink integration.
The A6 infotainment system comes standard with 180-watt sound system with 10-speakers, Audi Connect Plus, Amazon Alexa integration, satellite radio, 8.8-inch touchscreen, voice-activated navigation, Audi music interface, three 12v DC power outlet, four USB ports and Bluetooth.
The top of the range Prestige trim includes a long list of standard equipment included across the A6 lineup adds more heated rear seats and manual sunshades for the rear windows.
The high-performance S6 model comes with the larger 21-inch wheels, Audi's Virtual Cockpit digital gauge display and carbon fiber trim.
For 2021, the Audi A6 lineup comes with no major changes. Many of the changes coming from more standard equipment on base models and updated packages across the lineup. A new Black Optics Sport package joins the roster and adds unique 20-inch wheels, black exterior trim, and a sport suspension.

Overall Side Crash Rating: Not Rated
Overall Rollover Rating: * * * * *
Dynamic Test Result: No Tip
Risk of Rollover: 8.90%
Note Regarding Driver Rating:
Male: Average sized adult male dummy in 35-MPH crash into fixed barrier. Rating is evaluation of injury to head, neck, chest, legs. Female: Small-sized adult female dummy in 35-mph crash into fixed barrier. Rating is evaluation of injury to head, neck, chest, legs.
Rollover Note: Dynamic (moving) test results (Tip or No Tip) and measured rollover-related properties determine vehicle's risk of rollover in single vehicle crash and its rollover rating. The Rollover Resistance Rating utilizes a "fishhook" maneuver which is a series of abrupt turns at varying speeds to see how "top-heavy" a vehicle is.
