Sharp aggressive exterior styling; exceptional interior trims and materials; responsive handling; comfortable ride; extensive technology features, newly added plug-in hybrid option
The 2021 Audi A7 is offered in three different trim levels; Premium, Premium Plus and Prestige. All trims come with a new 3.0L turbocharged V6 engine, which is capable of 335 horsepower and 369 pound-feet of torque and paired to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission and quattro all-wheel drive. Audi claims it can make zero to 60 in just 5.2 seconds. For those wanting more performance, the Audi S7 offers 444 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque from its twin-turbocharged 6-cylinder which is enough to get the car from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds.
For 2021, Audi has introduced the new A7 e, the plug-in hybrid model powertrain comprises a 2L turbocharger four-cylinder with an electric motor that together produces 362 horsepower and comes seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The A7 e uses a 14.4-kWh battery pack that allows the PHEV model to achieve great fuel economy and allows the options for electric-only motoring.
Audi Drive Select provides drivers with various driving modes to adapt to individual preferences - Comfort, Sport, Auto and Individual. Each setting modifies the feel of the steering, transmission shift points and the way the throttle responds, all to meet certain driving styles. Combine this with dynamic all-wheel steering, which allows the rear wheels to steer, makes the handling of the A7 and S7 second to none.
The interior of the A7 brings on advanced technology and high-level comfort. Ambient LED lighting throughout the interior allows drivers to change colors to suit their mood. And a premium audio system, dual touchscreen infotainment and Audi MMI -Multi-Media Interface -- touch response allows drivers to customize settings for their driving experience inside the cabin. Navigation is powered by 3D Google Earth, which allows drivers to see topography and terrain in addition to the tops of trees and rooftops of buildings. Audi Connect allows the A7 to become a wireless hotspot, which is capable of connecting up to eight WiFi-enabled devices to the Internet.
The A7 Premium base trim offers a long list of standard features related to performance, styling, technology and safety. Highlighted standard features include 20-inch wheels, LED headlights and taillights, panoramic sunroof, multi-zone climate control, heated leather seats, 7-inch driver information system, keyless entry and start/stop, High Beam Assist and HomeLink integration.
The A7 infotainment system comes standard with a 8.8-inch infotainment touchscreen, 180-watt 10-speaker sound system, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, SiriusXM satellite radio, Audi Connect Plus, Audi smartphone interface, Amazon Alexa integration, voice-activated navigation, Bluetooth, three 12V power sockets and four USB ports.
Standard safety features on the A7 include front and rear parking sensors, lane departure warning, forward collision mitigation and pedestrian detection prevention
The Premium Plus trim adds a Bang & Olufsen 3D 16-speaker sounds system, wireless charging, Audi side assist and pre-sense, 360 view camera, HD Matrix headlights, headlight washers, adaptive cruise control, wireless charger, shift paddles, , top view camera system, , and Audi virtual cockpit. Audi virtual cockpit is a 12.3-inch color LCD screen, which offers two modes for viewing driver information.
The top-of-the-line Prestige trim brings the most to the A7. In addition to what is in the lower trims, the Prestige adds a head-up display, power soft-closing doors, 4-zone automatic climate control, heated and ventilated power front seats, heated rear seats, and dual pane acoustic glass, traffic sign recognition and intersection assist.
The Audi S7 comes standard with many of the features from higher spec A7's such as the four-zone climate control, Audi's virtual cockpit and the Bang & Olufsen sound system. It differs from the A7 in that it's much better at being a sports car. Its unique suspension settings mean the car is lower and stiffer than the A7, with correspondingly better handling. Meanwhile, all the power from the slightly smaller, but far more turbocharged engine allows the S7 to have impressive acceleration for a vehicle of its size.
Audi offers an array packages for the A7, including a Black Optic Package, S-Line Package, Convenience Package, Executive Package and Luxury Package.
For 2021, the Audi A7 adds the anticipated plug-in hybrid model to the lineup while the rest of the lineup receives minor changes to packages and standard equipment.
The 2021 Audi A7's design is truly standout in the market of luxury sedans. Adding in the breadth of available technology and luxurious interior design, makes it a highly impressive choice among competitors. When compared to vehicles such as the BMW 6-Series or Mercedes CLS-Class, the A7 is a strong competitor with its performance and style. Audi's quattro all-wheel drive offers a considerable benefit when choosing a luxury sedan. With Audi's MMI system and up to 3 color screens inside the A7, the infotainment system is one of the best available.
